Moms Who Made It - Pam Ginocchio & Melisa Fluhr

Here at Belly Bandit HQ, a women-owned and operated company, we believe in celebrating the success of all women in business! Our “Moms Who Made It” series is our way of honoring Mompreneurs who inspire us every day.

This week we're thrilled to be featuring Pam Ginocchio & Melisa Fluhr – Co-Founders of Project Nursery. These two amazing mompreneurs help parents find the vision, tools, and products for all their baby nursery and kid-friendly decorating projects. Project Nursery is the go-to design destination for new parents and with more “projects” in the works these Moms Who Made It continue to inspire!

Describe your business philosophy in 5 words:

Inspiration, Encouragement, Community, Flexibility, Honesty

What inspired you to start your business?

An idea, a friendship and one wine filled dinner! When it came time to decorate our own nurseries we felt there was a void of design inspiration for children’s spaces. We believed we could bring a community of design minded parents and design experts together to talk everything nursery so that’s what we set out to do!

When did you know you, “made it?”

It seems funny to us to think that we’ve “made it” when we have so much more to accomplish! But gotta say the first time we saw our Project Nursery branded products on the shelves IRL was a pretty rad moment.

Who is your mentor?

Pam: Melisa!
Melisa: Pam!
We lean on each others natural abilities and strengths. We’ve learned a lot from one another over these past 10 years.

What's your #1 tip for moms interested in starting their own business

Make friends within your industry and look to other successful mompreneurs for guidance. You’d be surprised how many people will take the time and allow you to pick their brain or provide advice based on their own start up experiences. Hearing their stories and learning what NOT to do is often the most valuable advice.

What does “me” time mean to you?

Pam: It means only having to make decisions that impact me, myself and I!
Melisa: Jogging outside to clear my head, all before the kids get out of bed.

What‘s on your bedside table?

Pam: I’m going to see Hamilton next week with my oldest daughter. The other night she presented me with her copy of, The Duel: The Parallel Lives of Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr and said “Mom, you better get up to speed on Hamilton ASAP. It’s like important!” Happy to report I’m almost finished!
Melisa: We always joke that I don’t read. Given that I am in front of a computer all day, I am always reading fellow blogger content and news headlines. By the evening, I prefer to have a remote on my bedside table so I can binge on the latest series on Netflix.
