Moms Who Made It - Monique and Dannielle

Here at Belly Bandit HQ, a women-owned and operated company, we believe in celebrating the success of all women in business! Our “Moms Who Made It” series is our way of honoring Mompreneurs who inspire us every day.

This week we're thrilled to be featuring Monique Filer and Dannielle Michaels the co-founders of b.box. These B.F.F.’s teamed-up to bring the baby-world their first invention, b.box’s diaper wallet. They have followed it up with loads of fun and functional everyday baby essentials. Their goal, make the lives of parents more convenient in a cool and innovative way, mission accomplished!

Describe your business philosophy in 5 words:

Customer-centric, creative, innovative, fun and global.

What inspired you to start your business?

Becoming parents. We wanted to create a business that worked in with our new lifestyle as parents, while utilizing our commercial and creative expertise from our previous corporate lives. We decided if we were going to work hard, let’s do it for ourselves.

When did you know you, “made it?”

We knew we made it when we saw someone who wasn’t a friend or family member using our product for the first time. 8 years on, we still get that same buzz when we see our products being enjoyed by tots around the world.

Who is your mentor?

We are lucky to have mentors from both inside and outside the industry. We have peers who we get together with to discuss common issues, challenges and opportunities. We also have a mentor who is a CEO of a retail group who provides perspective to our strategy and is an invaluable sounding board as we continue to grow. She makes sure we’ve answered the big questions and keep focused on our goals.

What's your #1 tip for moms interested in starting their own business

Believe in yourself and surround yourself with a cheer squad. It is tough and having people around you who don’t let you give up is so important.

What does “me” time mean to you?

Pilates for 45 minutes, where my phone is off and I am just focused on breathing and movement.

What‘s on your bedside table?

My kindle, a card from my youngest daughter telling me how much she loves me and usually my phone.
