Moms Who Made It - Julia Min

Here at Belly Bandit HQ, a women-owned and operated company, we believe in celebrating the success of all women in business! Our “Moms Who Made It” series is our way of honoring Mompreneurs who inspire us every day.

This week we are thrilled to be featuring Julia Min, founder of TWELVELittle, a company that specializes in fabulously stylish and functional baby bags. Julia  channeled her love of design and fashion into the creation of the "perfect baby bag" - made with high quality water resistant fabrics and genuine leather. Personally, we're obsessed with the cactus print - LOVE!

Describe your business philosophy:

Be creative and stay humble.

What inspired you to go into business?

My first born. I was working at a Handbag fashion brand in NYC when I found out I was pregnant with my first son, and realized how hard it was to find a stylish and functional diaper bag. With my experience and passion for well-designed bags, I created TWELVElittle. After having three kids within 4 years, I would say I know a thing or two about what makes a great diaper bag!

When did you know you, “made it?”

Eeek! I am still not sure if I "Made It," but the first time I saw a random mom in the streets carrying our bag, I was ecstatic. And I’ll never forget our first big order from a large retailer. That is always something to strive for.

Who is your mentor?

The two men in my life: My husband and my dad. From business decisions to
emotional moments, they are the first people I go to for guidance.

What’s your #1 tip for moms interested in starting their own business?

Start small and focus on what you are good at, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. No one is good at everything, so surround yourself with people who can help you.

What does “me” time mean to you?

I’ve come to a point where I decided having at least 15 minutes of me-time
every day is not being selfish. Whether it’s doing little bit of yoga or going out to
get coffee on my own, I just need to have that time to be alone and do something for myself.

What‘s on your bedside table?

The 2nd edition of Crazy Rich Asians, and Lean in: Women, Work and the Will to Lead by Sheryl Sangberg. Totally different books, but the funny thing is, they were both  recommended by fellow mompreneurs. =)
