Here at Belly Bandit HQ, a women-owned and operated company, we believe in celebrating the success of all women in business! Our “Moms Who Made It” series is our way of honoring Mompreneurs who inspire us every day.
This week we're thrilled to be featuring Alli Webb, founder of Drybar – the amazing one stop shop for every woman’s passion --a good blow out! Alli, a professional stylist, came up with the idea for Drybar after she found herself overpaying for blowouts at traditional salons. Her business has grown to 70+ locations in the U.S. and Canada and has a growing product line created specifically for the perfect blowout! Now that’s a Mom…who made it!
Describe your business philosophy in 5 words:
Trust your instincts, take chances.
What inspired you to start your business?
Personal necessity! Growing up with naturally curly hair set me on a life-long journey to figure out how to perfect my own personal blowout and tame my crazy hair. I've been a professional stylist now for a very long time... It occurred to me many years ago that there wasn't an affordable, cool spot for woman to get just a blowout - so I teamed up with my brother Michael Landau & husband Cameron Webb to make Drybar a reality. Never knew it would take off the way it has. We are incredibly humbled by it all!
When did you know you, “made it?”
I'm not sure you ever really know that. ;)
Who is your mentor?
My brother Michael has always been my biggest mentor. I have learned so much about business and so much more from him.
What's your #1 tip for moms interested in starting their own business
Think it through, make sure you are extremely passionate about what you're doing (because it will take all your time and then some!) and find a good partner to help you.
What does “me” time mean to you?
Ah those precious few moments when no one is asking me for anything and I can be quiet and by myself for a little while.
What‘s on your bedside table?
Candles, a lamp, iPhone charger stand, Alexa, reading glasses and a pink vase :)
