Words of wisdom, describe your business philosophy in 5 words:

“Say it like it is"

Ready, set, go! -What inspired you to start your business?

I worked as a celebrity and Reebok Master trainer in New York City for years. Not many trainers are pre and postnatal certified, so it quickly became my specialty. When I became pregnant myself, I saw the lack of pre/postnatal fitness material that is safe yet still fun and challenging.
Essentially, becoming a mother inspired the start of my business. The birth of my all-inclusive pregnancy workout program, Expecting MORE® ( (which I shot 8 months pregnant) marked the beginning my own company. It also inspired my mission to share with women ways to live a healthy, happy, holistic life throughout motherhood.

Moms Who Made It - When did you know you, “made it?”

IIn terms of my products, I first knew I’d done something special when I received my first review of Expecting MORE® on Amazon . . . hearing that my workouts had truly made a difference in a woman’s pregnancy was music to my ears.

Helpline - Who is your mentor?

Oh I have so many, but the person I go to most for business mentoring is Linda Shelton. She’s my fitness guru (She’s been in the fitness industry forever and has an unbeatable resume). Most importantly, she is always brutally honest with me, which I respect more than anything. When it comes to motherhood, my mentors are definitely my mom and my mother-in-law. I’m constantly taking what I really love about both of them as mothers and applying it to raising our boys.

What's your #1 tip for moms interested in starting their own business

Just start - even if it’s baby steps. I get a lot of business mentoring from my husband too, since he is also an entrepreneur. Whenever I “talk” about doing something, he says, “Sara, just do it.” It’s easy to talk about doing something - actually doing it is another, and you can’t do it until you start. Just think to yourself, “Five years from now, do I want to still be ‘talking’ or do I want to be ‘doing?’

Me, me, me - What does “me” time mean to you?

“Me” time is something I do 100% alone that has nothing to do with work or my family & friends (which is why I don’t get a lot of it). My favorite ways to do “me” time . . . take a hot yoga class, get a mani/pedi, or even just grabbing a cappuccino and doing some window shopping.

Book club - What‘s on your bedside table?

Slash by Slash (My husband and I love Guns ’N Roses) and Me Before You by JoJo Moyes (One of my besties gave it to me for my birthday.)

Words to live by - Share you favorite quote!

I think the Serenity Prayer can get you through most anything: "God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
