Moms Who Made It - Carrie Felton

Here at Belly Bandit HQ, a women-owned and operated company, we believe in celebrating the success of all women in business! Our “Moms Who Made It” series is our way of honoring Mompreneurs who inspire us every day.

This week we're thrilled to be featuring Carrie Felton, founder of Stuck On You, a personalized label company. Carrie’s passion to get organized, combined with her desire to make “name” labels her young son would enjoy, resulted in the creation of stickers with cute and clever icons that are perfect for everything from clothes to lunch boxes!

Describe your business philosophy in 5 words:

Create more time for dancing!

What inspired you to start your business?

My son!

When did you know you, “made it?”

When people started calling me the Label Lady – people I didn’t even know!! Very quickly I new I was onto a product mums around the world needed. Very quickly I realized the idea wasn’t quite enough and I went onto a very fast steep learning curve which has never ended and I hope it never does!

Who is your mentor?

I have many other women in business that I connect with, other mums who are having a red hot go, other mums who are balancing family and a career, other mums who care about the community they are creating for.

What's your #1 tip for moms interested in starting their own business

Definitely go with that mum instinct, find a gap in the market, create a product for sure, more importantly think about the mums and the community you are offering this product to. What can you offer them that is not about your product. Think about how they are going to find you, understand who your community is and where they are gathering their information. Don’t build a website and expect the orders to flow in the door, it really does take a lot more than that to create a trusted and loved brand.

What does “me” time mean to you?

More importantly what is ‘me’ time!! This is one thing that doesn’t always take front and center any more. I combine my me time with my family and friends. Cooking and entertaining is a passion so a lot of me time is giving back to others via food! I also love art, so a sneaky few hours in a small art area is heaven to me.
